Chelsea Museum Consortium

Museums are a vital part of Chelsea 's unique and vibrant cultural landscape. The Chelsea Museum Consortium creates a context for the betterment of Chelsea 's cultural institutions through the sharing of knowledge, information and common goals.

What does the Consortium seek to accomplish?

Our initial objective is to establish a supportive network of resources and to create opportunities for collaboration between 12 outstanding museums located in or adjacent to the Chelsea area. Through the coordination of resources, the CMC supports its members and extends the public reach and impact of their exhibitions and educational programs.

The Consortium achieves this by:

+ Fostering collaboration in the development and implementation of exhibitions and education programs.

+ Increasing awareness, both among the general public and funding sources, of the role its members play in providing access to the arts and humanities throughout the region.

+ Improving financial stability of member museums by soliciting advice and support from major philanthropies, and other institutions and individuals where appropriate.

+ Providing shared services enhancing member institutions' management, fund raising and marketing activities.

And finally,

+ By giving member institutions a unified voice to influence government or the business community on issues directly affecting their interests .
