Attract Visitors, Drive Attendance
The Chelsea Museum Consortium exists to strengthen the pursuits of its members through the sharing of knowledge, information, challenges and common goals. Our objective is to establish a supportive network of resources and create opportunities for cooperative learning, information sharing, and collaborative relationships in developing exhibits, shows and programs, and finally to have a unified voice (with the power of numbers) to influence government or the business community on issues of importance to our members. Members of the Consortium are museums and landmark cultural institutions in or directly adjacent to Chelsea , which share the distinction of being particularly vital to Chelsea 's unique and vibrant cultural landscape. Together, our institutions welcome more than 3 million visitors annually. Members are invested in the growing renaissance of Chelsea and West Chelsea, and the evolution of its increasing attendance from both New York's inhabitants and visitors. More museums in close coordination and proximity will mean more sustainable individual museum development, higher attendance, better programming and a general enrichment of the community. We envision Chelsea becoming New York 's second largest visitor destination, as well as a wellspring of art and culture that enlivens the hearts, minds and souls of people everywhere. |
Member museums foster and promote the arts, sciences and humanities as a unifying force in a changing society. We provide direct access to art, culture, science and historical artifacts through educational programs, permanent and changing exhibitions, publications and by bringing outstanding artists and scholars to our publics. The Consortium meets monthly to discuss museum issues, promotional projects, and to exchange ideas. Besides the monthly meetings, member representatives meet for meals and to exchange creative juices along their path of unified common good. We facilitate communication between board members, executive directors, as well as programming creators, fundraisers, and marketing officers. All members include tri-annual attendance of board members, who also are in charge of developing the CMC board at the time of benefit from its solidification. |
